Camilla Belle Routh was born to Jack Routh (American) and Cristina Rould (Brazillian) on October 2nd 1986 in Los Angeles, California. Camilla, named after actress Renata Sorrah’s character, Camilla in the Brazillian sopa opera “Cavalo de Aco”. Due to her Brazillian background, Camilla is both fluent in Portuguese and English.
Camilla began her acting career by appearing in television commericials in 1987, when she was just nine months old. The models in her mother’s aerobics class suggested to Mrs. Routh that her daughter begin auditioning for work. Camilla’s first job was in a Surbaru ad. By the time she starting attending school (Marlborough School), Camilla was making her mark in numerous TV and big screen films, landing her first dramatic role in a made for TV thriller “Trouble Shooters: Trapped Beneath the Earth”. Though she only had minor roles in films such as “A Little Princess” and “The Lost World: Jurrasic Park”, Camilla finally landed the lead role in the sequel to “The Secret Garden” intitled “Back to the Secret Garden”.
